Big Air Package is an indoor installation for the interior of a former gas tank – the Gasometer Oberhausen, Germany – and is the largest ever inflated envelope without a skeleton. The 90-metre high inflatable has a volume of 177,000 cubic meters and is constructed with 20,350 square meters of semi-transparent polyester fabric and 4,500-metres of rope.
Christo describes the experience as “virtually swimming in light” as a result of the vast expanses of fabric, lit from above via skylights in the Gasometer.
