Neon Parallax is a public art project in Geneva designed specifically for the four sides of the lozenge shaped Plaine de Plainpalais. An ensemble of nine neon-sign installations has been conceived as an aesthetic counterbalance to the advertising on the Rade waterside district of Geneva, and to acknowledge the similarity of the diamond-shaped lake and land areas. Since 2006 the project has commissioned six neon signs by Sylvie Fleury (CH), YES TO ALL; Jérôme Leuba (CH), Breath; Christian Jankowski (D), What I Still Have to Take Care Of; Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (F), Expodrome; Sislej Xhafa (Kosovo), Axis of Silence; and Nic Hess (CH), Fly A Dragon Kite. For 2012 three new lighting installations will be placed on the roofs of buildings bordering the eastern side of the Plaine de Plainpalais in Geneva. Ann Veronica Janssens (B), proposes the dysfunctional sentence, L’ODRRE N’A PAS D’IPMROTNCAE; Pierre Bismuth (F), presents the cinema headline, Coming Soon!; Christian Robert-Tissot (CH), was commissioned by the Lombard Oder & Cie bank to create, DIMANCHE, in capital letters for the roof of their building.
